I will only work on a horse with permission from your vet, see regulations, I am happy to contact them on your behalf to gain permission.

There are many reasons why a massage is not appropriate and it should never be a replacement for veterinary advice.  Contraindications to massage are listed (this is not an exhaustive list!).

  • Significant injuries less than seven days old
  • Lack of appetite
  • Horse is lethargic
  • Horse is dehydrated
  • Any abnormal heat
  • Any abnormal swelling
  • Azoturia
  • Colic
  • Weight bearing lameness

If you are worried about your horse please always check with the vet.
